In recent years, underfloor heating is becoming more and more popular especially since the emergence of renewable energy installations which work best at low temperature.
There are two main types of underfloor heating, electric and wet. Electric underfloor heating is the simplest form and usually consist of a mat of electric cables which are rolled out under the floor and controlled independently by individual thermostats.
Wet underfloor heating systems connect into your normal heating system and can be controlled by your heating controls. These are installed by running a series of water pipes under your floor through which hot water can flow. This water then heats the floor to a degree that the heat emitted is enough to heat the room/house to the required level.
The nature of underfloor heating is such that heat should be consistent throughout the property without the risk of cold spots that can occur with conventional radiators. Also as underfloor heating works most effectively at low temperatures, it is more efficient than standard heating systems.
