The Benefits of Solar Power Heating in Bristol

Monday, February 7th, 2011

Here at Gas World Ltd we know better than anyone that thermal solar panel heating has numerous benefits, the best known is its status as a renewable source which decreases your carbon footprint. Surprisingly, we’ve found that not many customers realise that the benefits of solar panel heating are significantly increased depending on your location. For instance, the sunlight collected by the thermal solar panels increases from approximately 900kWh/m³ in the North of England to roughly 1,300kWh/m³ per year in the South West of England. Regardless of where you’re based however, the benefits of solar panel heating Bristol are clearly visible.

The advantages of solar panel heating Bristol include:

•    Reliable and effective source of renewable and sustainable energy which is free.
•    Reduces the cost of bills.
•    Thermal solar panels provide up to 60% of your household hot water needs.
•    Reduces your household’s carbon footprint by 325kg per year.
•    The solar panels are also ideal for under flooring heating.
•    Low maintenance.
•    Gas world Ltd provide a reliable and fast installation.
•    Adds value onto your home.
•    Extends your boiler’s life.
•    If eligible a Government supported scheme will provide up to £400 towards the cost of installation.

Using Renewable Energy in Bristol can Save You Money

Monday, January 10th, 2011

In the current economic climate and with Christmas only seeming to have been a few days ago, whilst Valentine’s Day and the summer holiday’s appear to be just around the corner, many of us will be looking at saving money and tightening our belts. Some people may opt to cut down on life’s little luxuries such as the weekly trips to the cinema or the lad’s weekend trips to away games. But a more sustainable way that as homeowners we can tighten our belts, save money and become more eco-friendly without cutting off society, is by using renewable energy Bristol.

Renewable energy is energy which is generated by natural resources including the sun, wind and water. Here at Gas World, for the last few years we’ve been providing a variety of appliances which take the renewable energy Bristol to provide you with usable energy, whilst also saving you money in both the short and long term.

Probably the most common type of renewable energy appliance, solar panels work alongside your existing conventional water heater (although they aren’t suitable with some combi boilers) to provide you hot water when required.

A solar panel works by collecting the sun’s radiation, and to have any noticeable effect on the reduction of C02 and money spent on other energy sources, you’ll require at least three panels on a South facing roof.
Less well known compared to solar panels, air source heat pumps can heat either the air of the property or the hot water, making them slightly more beneficial than a solar panel.

Working alongside your energy supply, an air source heat pump takes in the heat from outside the building, to heat the building/water on the inside – and if used effectively, this form of renewable energy Bristol can save the average household £760 a year.  If you’re unsure whether solar panels or a air source heat pump would be beneficial to your property, why not give our friendly team a call.

Air Source Heat Pumps in Nailsea

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Upon initially approaching us to install heating in his new property he was building on the outskirts of Nailsea, nr Bristol, Mr Jim Bragg, initially asked us to provide him with quotations to install an Oil or LPG fuelled heating system within the proposed 4 bed house.

Upon assessing the plans and discussing the requirements through with Mr Bragg, we were able to offer an energy and cost saving alternative in the form of Air Source Heat Pumps supplying both his hot water and the proposed underfloor heating.  Although, marginally more expensive to install, The Daikin Air Source Heat Pumps not only reduced CO2 Emission to around half that of oil and LPG fuelled boilers but also reduced the running costs to only 38% of a high efficiency, oil fuelled boiler.

Upon hearing our proposal, Mr Bragg jumped at the idea of Air Source Heat Pumps and dually ask ourselves to carry out the works.  Upon visiting our Showroom, Mr Bragg was also taken by the selection of LPG fuelled fires we had on display and subsequently also ordered a Flavel Honest to have installed while we were installing the heating system.
